I was born in the UK, and obtained my PhD at the University of Nottingham. During my undergraduate degree, I studied both astronomy and medical physics, focussing on brain imaging in the latter. As well as research, during my career I have been a strong advocate for widening participation in STEM, and thoroughly enjoy giving planetarium shows at science festivals.
I am an avid traveller and animal lover, and have spent summers volunteering at wonderful organisations around the world, caring for species such as elephants, sloths, orangutans, marmosets and more. In my spare time I enjoy watching - but absolutely not participating in! - ice hockey, reading sci-fi, and I occasionally dabble in some art.
